This article explains the correct and recommended methods for updating employment details to ensure that all changes are accurately reflected in the employee’s timeline and payslip.
While the Employment tab in Employee Profile displays current employment information, it is primarily for reference. Updates made here may not be captured in the employee’s timeline or payroll records.
Therefore, to ensure consistency and accuracy, employment details should be updated using:
- Method 1: Update from Employee Progression (Recommended)
- Method 2: Edit from Timeline tab in Employee Profile
Note: Users cannot create a new progression record directly from the Timeline tab. In order for a record to appear:
- Employment detail updates must be made through the Progression page.
- Once a progression record is added, it will automatically appear in the Timeline tab. Only then can you make edits or changes via the tab.
For accuracy and to maintain proper chronological records, we strongly recommend using Progression for all employment updates.
Method 1: Update from Employee Progression (Recommended)

Method 2: Edit from Timeline tab in Employee Profile
Step 1
Navigate to Employee (a) > Directory (b) as the image below.
Step 2
Click on the employee whose profile details you want to update.
Step 3
Then, head over to Timeline in Employee Profile and select Edit at the top right corner of the page.
Step 4
After clicking Edit, you’ll see two icons at the bottom of each progression record:
Pencil - To edit details of the progression record
Dustbin - To delete the progression record

Depending on which icon you select:
i) Pencil icon
- You’ll be able to update the employee’s details.
- Click Confirm to save your updated details.
Important: Clicking Save at the top of the screen does not apply the changes. You MUST click Confirm for the changes to take effect.
ii) Dustbin icon:
- A popup will appear to confirm the deletion.
- Proceed if you wish to delete the progression record.
