GPS Location Not Detected When Clocking (Mobile App)

Modified on Thu, 16 Oct at 5:21 PM

If the GPS location is not being detected correctly when clocking in via the Worksy mobile app, the issue is usually related to device’s location settings.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot and fix the problem:

1. Ensure Location Services Are Enabled

  • Go to your phone’s Settings.
  • Make sure Location or GPS is turned on.
  • Set the location mode to High Accuracy or enable Improve Location Accuracy (if available).

2. Check App Permissions

Without this permission, the app cannot detect your position during clocking activity.

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Worksy.
  • Ensure the app is allowed to access your location always or while using the app.
  • Turn on Precise Location, if available.

3. Enable Wi-Fi or Mobile Data

Weak or no network signal can prevent the app from detecting your location accurately.

  • GPS accuracy improves when the device is connected to the internet.
  • Ensure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.

4. Check GPS Signal Strength

A stronger GPS signal allows the system to pinpoint your location more accurately.

  • Try clocking in/out from an open area with a clear view of the sky.
  • Avoid indoor areas, basements, or underground parking, as these can block satellite signals.

5. Disable Battery Optimization (Android Only)

This allows the app to use GPS continuously when clocking attendance.

  • Some Android devices restrict background GPS access under power-saving modes.
  • Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimization, and disable optimization for Worksy.

6. Calibrate Your Device’s GPS

Calibration helps reset your phone’s GPS accuracy.

  • Open Google Maps or another map-based app.
  • Move your phone in a figure-8 motion several times to recalibrate the GPS sensor.
  • Confirm that your location on the map reflects your current position accurately.

7. Restart the Device

This can fix temporary detection issues caused by background services.

  • Restart your phone to refresh the GPS and network connections.

8. Check for App and OS Updates

  • Ensure both the Worksy app and your device’s operating system are updated to the latest versions.

After completing these steps, try clocking in again using the Worksy mobile app. Your location should now be detected accurately during clocking

If all the above steps have been followed and the issue still persists, please try to reinstall the Worksy app and re-enable the necessary permissions during installation.
