The Block Leave feature lets you set specific date periods in a year when employees are not allowed to apply for leave. You can create multiple block periods and assign them to different groups of employees.
Setting Up Block Leave:
- Admins can define a date range and the leave type(s) to block.
- If an employee applies for leave during a block period, they will see a prompt and receive an email notification.
- Backdated leave requests are still allowed, but only after the block period has ended.
Example: If the block period is 1–5 Feb, an employee can only apply for leave on 4 Feb after 6 Feb.
How to Set Up a Block Leave
Step 1
On the left menu, go to Leave (a) > Block Leave (b).
If you don’t see Block Leave, you need to enable it for your role via:
Settings > User Account > Access Right > Select Role > Expand Leave Menu > Enable Block Leave
Step 2
Fill in all the required fields:
- Title
- Label
- Start Date
- End Date
Step 3
Select which leave types (e.g., leave, time off, unpaid leave, replacement leave) should be included or excluded from this block leave. Once confirmed, click Next.
Step 4
Select the employees who will be affected by this block leave, then click Save.
You have now successfully created a block leave. These employees will also receive an email notification informing them about the block leave period.
Result of Block Leave Setup
Your new block leave will appear in the Active list.
Once the period ends, it will automatically move to the Inactive list.
When an employee submits a leave request within a blocked period, a pop-up message will appear and prevent the request from being submitted.
