Why salary processed different than in the employee profile?

Scenario: I am processing an existing employee's payroll. The employee has a salary increment for January 2024 hence the basic salary for January 2024 should be the new salary. However, the basic salary amount appears off. How do I check further?


Possible CauseThe employee's Timeline is not in the correct order and needs to be corrected.

Step 1

Go to the employee's Timeline. On your left icon, click Employee > Directory. Then select the employee's name. 


Step 2

Once you are in the employee's profile, click the Timeline tab.


Step 3

Check if the employee's timeline is in place. As can be seen in the employee's timeline below, the salary was updated on 29.01.2024. By right, the salary should start on the first date of January. In this sample, the Update Salary action needs to be deleted and the HR needs to update the increment again with the correct effective date for the increment.
