Employee Payslip: Earnings, Deductions, and Contribution

Modified on Fri, 26 Dec at 4:06 PM

Your payslip contains important information about your salary, deductions, and statutory contributions. Below is a breakdown of the different sections to help you understand it better.

1. Header

At the top of your payslip, you will find key information including:

  1. Company Name

  2. Payroll Cycle

  3. Payment Date

  4. Employee Personal Details

  5. Employment Information

This section gives you an overview of your payroll context for the selected month.

2. Earnings & Deductions

The middle section of your payslip contains your Earnings and Deductions:

a. Earnings

  • Lists all payment items for the month, including basic pay, allowances, and overtime.
  • Some payments may be calculated based on factors such as:
    • Period: e.g. overtime hours worked
    • Rate: e.g. overtime rate

b. Total Earnings – Sum of all payment items.

c. Deductions

  • Lists all deductions, including statutory contributions:
    • EPF = KWSP
    • SOCSO = PERKESO
    • EIS = SIP
    • PCB = Monthly tax deduction

d. Total Deductions – Sum of all deduction items.

e. Nett Wage – Total Earnings minus Total Deductions; this is the amount that will be credited to your account.

3. Statutory Summary

The Statutory Summary table provides a clear view of your contributions for both the Employee and Employer portions.

  • Employee Portion (a) – Shows the contributions deducted from your salary.
  • Employer Portion (b) – Shows the contributions made by your employer.

Each portion is further divided into:

  • Current (c) – The contribution amount for the selected payroll month.

  • YTD (d) – The Year-to-Date contributions accumulated from the start of the year up to the selected payroll month

Example:

If you are viewing your March payslip, the Current Month column shows March’s contributions, while the YTD column shows contributions from January to March.

This table allows you to track both your personal and employer contributions over the year at a glance.

4. Payment Mode Details

On the lower-right side of the payslip, you can see your salary payment information, including:

  • Payment Method: Cash / Bank / Cheque
  • Bank Name
  • Bank Account Number

Note: Any changes to your payment details (e.g., bank account) may be subject to payroll cutoff periods. Please consult your payroll administrator for further guidance.
